Learning Journal

Well the past few weeks have been a lot of fun. Each day I go to the schools and teach I seem to learn something new from the students and from the classroom teacher. I feel that I am picking up some great techniques and strategies for my own classroom. I still am really nervous about having my own classroom in less than a year, and was wondering if am the only person that feels that way. I know the first year will be a total learning experience but I just get really anxious when I think about it. Well hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving break and will see you all soon.

Quote of the Day

Without inspiration the best powers of the mind remain dormant, they is a fuel in us which needs to be ignited with sparks.

-Johann Gottfried Von Herder

Students Work to the World!

I dont' have any student's work to show off to the world at this moment, but check back in the future to see what is happening in our classroom!

Personal Thoughts

Well I am really glad it is Thanksgiving. I think this is my favoritie holiday because all you have to do is enjoy family and eat as much food as possible. ;-) Oh yeah you get to watch football as well! I am really excited for this semester to be over with so I can start student teaching. I am at Riley County in a 6th grade classroom. I look forward to the challenge and can't wait to start teaching!

Star Form

Cooperating Teacher,
Hello my name is Cody Sattler and I am from Oakley, Kansas. I am 22 years old and have one older brother named Isaiah. I come from a divorced family, and growing up I lived with my father. While in high school I participated in football, basketball, and track. The enrollment at Oakley High is approximately 200 students and I had 60 students in my graduating class of 2004. My father is a principal at the elementary and middle school in Oakley, so I have grown up around education for the majority of my life. Growing up around education and playing sports made a big impact on why I chose education as a career. I have had some great teachers throughout my education who have shaped me into the person I am today. My experiences with children include working in summer camps and also tutoring children in an after school program. When I graduate from Kansas State University I want to teach in Denver, Colorado where I can hopefully teach in a third or fourth grade classroom. I also have aspirations of becoming a coach someday. I am a huge sports fan and I love the competiveness that sports bring out in people. Growing up in Western Kansas made it very easy to travel to Denver. I really enjoy the outdoors and I love the weather in Colorado. I know teaching is not an easy job and I won’t become rich by being an educator, but it is very rewarding in the end. I look forward to student teaching with you and hope one day I can look back and say I made a difference in a child’s life!
