Learning Journal

Well the past few weeks have been a lot of fun. Each day I go to the schools and teach I seem to learn something new from the students and from the classroom teacher. I feel that I am picking up some great techniques and strategies for my own classroom. I still am really nervous about having my own classroom in less than a year, and was wondering if am the only person that feels that way. I know the first year will be a total learning experience but I just get really anxious when I think about it. Well hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving break and will see you all soon.

Quote of the Day

Without inspiration the best powers of the mind remain dormant, they is a fuel in us which needs to be ignited with sparks.

-Johann Gottfried Von Herder

Students Work to the World!

I dont' have any student's work to show off to the world at this moment, but check back in the future to see what is happening in our classroom!

Personal Thoughts

Well I am really glad it is Thanksgiving. I think this is my favoritie holiday because all you have to do is enjoy family and eat as much food as possible. ;-) Oh yeah you get to watch football as well! I am really excited for this semester to be over with so I can start student teaching. I am at Riley County in a 6th grade classroom. I look forward to the challenge and can't wait to start teaching!

Star Form

Cooperating Teacher,
Hello my name is Cody Sattler and I am from Oakley, Kansas. I am 22 years old and have one older brother named Isaiah. I come from a divorced family, and growing up I lived with my father. While in high school I participated in football, basketball, and track. The enrollment at Oakley High is approximately 200 students and I had 60 students in my graduating class of 2004. My father is a principal at the elementary and middle school in Oakley, so I have grown up around education for the majority of my life. Growing up around education and playing sports made a big impact on why I chose education as a career. I have had some great teachers throughout my education who have shaped me into the person I am today. My experiences with children include working in summer camps and also tutoring children in an after school program. When I graduate from Kansas State University I want to teach in Denver, Colorado where I can hopefully teach in a third or fourth grade classroom. I also have aspirations of becoming a coach someday. I am a huge sports fan and I love the competiveness that sports bring out in people. Growing up in Western Kansas made it very easy to travel to Denver. I really enjoy the outdoors and I love the weather in Colorado. I know teaching is not an easy job and I won’t become rich by being an educator, but it is very rewarding in the end. I look forward to student teaching with you and hope one day I can look back and say I made a difference in a child’s life!

Week is going by fast!

Well this week is flying by really fast for some reason I am not sure, I think it is because we really only had one day of block classes ;-). There isn't anything new going on in my life right now just the same ole "stressed out" Cody! Well I take that back I am starting this new diet...yeah I said diet...I bet you are laughing right now and saying what the heck is Cody trying to diet. Well I have always been an athletic guy and have always worked out. I have always just ate any type of foods and never cared for a second what I was eating. I have just been fortunate to stay in shape and be fairy fit. I am really interested in nutrition and lately have been reading a lot about nutrition and diets.

So....here I am starting this DIET! Trust me this is going to be very tough for me but I am going to put myself through it. My plan is to eat about 6 small meals a day consuming about 2500 calories. I am trying to get no processed food or man made food. I really want to lose about 20 lbs so I can get down to about 200lbs (extra lean). Now that I am working at GNC that will give me even more motivation to stay healthy. I believe exercise is the best thing for the human body. Some days I will be just having the worse day of my life and after I get done with a workout I feel so much better. Then the days I skip a work out I feel like the scum of the earth and feel lazy. I know everyone doesn't workout but really you should try it and see how your life will change. Even if it is just talking a walk with your dog around your neighborhood. Seriously just try and see how you feel. Do it for 2 weeks and you will be hooked....promise! lol I sound like some info commerical on t.v about 3 in the morning.....sorry

I think I like this diet thing because I am a very competitive person and now that I am not playing any sports I try to find thing to keep me competitive. This diet is very hard for me to do but I like the challenge it offers. I will keep you guys up to date on how I am doing with this, but in the mean time.....Please and I honestly mean Please....don't bring any cookies or brownies to class or at least hide them from me lol :-(

Here is a rough look at what I am eating in the next week weeks

Meal 1: Fresh fruit (bananas, strawberries, cantaloupe
Meal 2: Protein shake - raw egg and 1/2 oats
Meal 3: Small portions chicken breast, brown rice, broccoli
Meal 4: Protein shake, pre work out supplements
Meal 5: Chicken breast, green beans brown rice
Meal 6: Protein shake -Post workout drink

I will have a cheater day every 12 days where I can get some goodies!!! and trust me I will!!

Life Part 1

Well where do I start. First off I am going to ramble for a while so bare with me. I told everyone how excited I was for this blog thing but never made a new post since we did it in class. So......here I am now making my first official blog post. I really like blogs because they are a great way to express yourself to so many people in a a quick and easy way. Plus sometimes you have things you build up inside but don't' know how to express them, and writing them in a blog is always a good way. Well I just reviewed 5 other blogs and made some post and it seems like everyone is feeling the same way I am abut school. Yes....extremely stressed and can't wait until May! These past few weeks have been crazy for me and it seems like it is getting worse each day. I really want to become a teacher and have always wanted to teach but these past few weeks have made me second guess my career path. I know life isn't suppose to be easy and you have to persevere through the tough times but I just don't know sometimes. On Thursay I felt the best I have about school in a long time. Thursday we had that meeting about Student teaching and it was a good feeling to know that I am about done with this zoo! My advisor told me that I am one class short, so I will be craming pyschololgy of a serial murder in the winter inter-session. That should be a interesting class! Some other good news I heard was that if we want to become secondary teachers all we have to do is pass the content test in that area we want to teach. That is awesome because I was a secondary major but ended up switching some how.....Yeah I am not sure how I made the switch but I did. Now, don't get me wrong I want to teach elementary because I really do love kids.

Wow, I can't believe I just wrote a paragraph and still have a lot of things on my mind I would like to share. I have always wanted to start a blog but never really knew where to start one at. The past couple of months I have been reading a couple blogs and really enjoy it. I feel like I know these people and have never even meet them before. Well off on another subject I got a new job at GNC in the mall and really enjoy working there. I work with some cool people and love to learn about staying healthy and new supplements. So....if you guys are ever in the Mall you will have to come say hello to me. Well like I said I am sorry for not writing in this blog sooner but I promise I will try to keep it updated with my crazzzzzy life! Hope everyone is enjoying the stress free weekend...I mean its not like we have any homework to do or anything!! LoL alright everyone I am out!
